This question allows for the audience to relate further to the band as they may share something else in common and therefore, feel a greater ideal self.
What first got you into music?
Gives insider knowledge that audiences may relate to, furthering artist background and therefore, audience attachment; creates verisimilitude in a grounded, relatable and real artist.
If you could collaborate with any other artist who would it be?
Gives insider knowledge that audiences may relate to.
How do you feel the internet has affected the music industry, for better or worse?
Relates to target audience who are digital natives and therefore, grew up with the internet and likely use it to listen to music.
Are there any pre-existing songs that you wish you'd have written?
Gives insider, exclusive knowledge that audiences may relate to.
What’s your favourite gig that you’ve performed at and why?
Gives insider knowledge with a detailed response; allows for the feature/band's background to be made aware to the audience which they may find further relatability.
What made you and your fellow members want to start The Midnight Train?
Furthers exclusive insider knowledge unique to the magazine which the audience can be inspired by to understand where another (featured) band came from, originating from the same Sheffield background.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start their own band?
This gives educational value through educating those who see an ideal self in the feature how to be like them and appeal to the younger audience who may just be starting up or want to start their own band.
How do you like to unwind, do you get together with the other members?
Furthers relatability and unique, exclusive, insider knowledge to the band's background therefore, characterizing them further through seeing something relatable in a colloquial setting juxtaposing the high energy conventions of the music/rock genre.
Did anything outside of music, like film, inspire you at all (e.g. Whiplash)?
This reaches a wider audience of those also interested in film or other media to relate to the artist and possibly feel inspired allowing for a wider influence of ideal self amongst the audience.
Do you feel nervous before every gig or does it feel natural now?
This allows for further relatability in challenging the conventions of music/rock and male stereotypes through giving an emotion like fear to someone who's presented as careless and dominant.
What's next for you?
Informs audiences who are interested in the feature where they can see them therefore, giving further exclusive insider knowledge.
